(SSR 16-83) AMRITA FOR VILLAGES IN KATHIWADA VILLAGE,MADHYA PRADESH


1.       TITLE :
“AMRITA FOR VILLAGES IN KATHIWADA VILLAGE,MADHYA PRADESH”

2.        MISSION :
·         To be a part of a social cause, to help in any way(however small) - through conducting surveys , interacting and helping out the people in the village in any ways possible.
·         To bring whatever knowledge we have , however, small to them, the people of our village, be it children or  elders.

5.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
           Lack of awareness
          Less intrest by the people from outside to provide support.
          Education is given focus, but quality of education is low.

7.       THE  CONQUEST :
·          We were able to get well with the people.
·         We were able to show the change which we had from the before teams and give them something which they enjoyed well.
·         Most of our programs were taken with much happiness and wonder.

8.       OBSTACLES FACED :
·         The people were not accepting us initially.
·          Living situation was not like our usual lifestyle.
·          There is no awareness against tobacco or any such stuff.
·         Lack of sanitation awareness
·         Education though not neglected is substandard.

9.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
·         221 hours

10.   ROAD AHEAD :
·         The next team should go with actual solutions. Solid and precise. The next team should'nt go with just ideas of conducting surveys or conducting science camps. They expect that or will consider us like the many teams that come there purely for the satisfaction of the trip which will tarnish our cause. Building toilets , sanitation training and adult literacy should be focused.

11.   ROSES AND THORNS :
·          It was an experience I will recount forever as a life changer. Living and experiencing the village, interacting with the villagers has really brought out a part of me i never knew I had. I learned to adapt and build relations , to expect the unexpected and to to count my blessings.


(SSR16-032) ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS.

MISSION:
·         Increase the amount of registered organ donors.
·         Encourage teenagers and adults to discuss their wishes to their families in the case of an unpredicted death.
·         Raise awareness of the severity of the shortage of organ donations.
·         Learn the facts about organ donation and clear up the myths associated with organ donation.
·         Encourage people to talk to others about the importance of organ donation.
·         Think of organ donation as being a hero and to know how special and appreciable their gift of life will be.

          Training from KNOS (Kerala Network for Organ Sharing) , Trivandrum.

          Pre and Post surveys conducted.
          Distribution of Donor cards.

5.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
          Lack of awareness.
          Negative response by family and relatives.
          Religious view points.
          Delay in the consent process.
          Illegal organ trade.
          Misconceptions  about organ donation.

·         Instilled a willingness and enthusiasm, in the villagers, to offer the gift of life through organ donation.
·         Survey results show the positive impact of the campaign on people.
·         People showed interest in accepting the donor cards.
·         Created awareness on the procedures to be followed in case of a donation.

9.       OBSTACLES FACED :
·         To break  all the misconceptions  about organ donation..
·         Create awareness among the less educated rural people.
·         Transportation  to Seethathode,  one of remote villages in kerala.
·         To get the maximum number of consents from the village.
·         Distribution of Donor Cards.

       FUTURE PLANS – ROAD AHEAD :
        To educate and inform the community, friends and family about organ and tissue donation.
       To markedly improve rates of donation.
       To be a part of the activities conducted by KNOS(Kerala Network for Organ Sharing).
       To inform KNOS or  important people in the field like the philanthropist and humanist, Kochoseph Chittilappally  or organisations like Santhi Medical Information Centre, founded by Uma Preman  ,in case of any emergency.

        ROSES AND THORNS :

Prior to this campaign, we attended a class conducted by KNOS which proved really helpful not only in expanding our knowledge but also for educating the public. The class organised at KNOS helped us to know more about the procedures of organ donation and donor card.

(SSR16-027) ORGANIC FARMING

 MISSION :
·         To spread awareness about the ill effects of inorganic farming method among school students.
·         To indoctrinate the importance of organic farming among school students.
·         To enlighten them with some useful information about organic farming method.

·         use of genetically modified organisms should be prohibited.
·         using more machinery and chemical pesticides and herbicides world will be facing more environmental pollution.

·         Faced many difficulties for getting permission from authorities.
·         Limitations in the use of gadgets and rules of the institution
·         Finding time for our project without disturbing their regular schedule

       ROAD AHEAD :
·         To motivate and help households to start kitchen garden in homes.
·         To expand this project in larger scale in schools.
·         Planning to join in an organic farming organization to conduct awareness campaigns.

1     ROSES AND THORNS :
·         The project gave us a wonderful experience in learning and also implementing the organic farming techniques. It was the first experience for all of us to visit an Agricultural Office and to get guidance from the Head of the Department. The time we have spent with the students in the school was also thrilling. The way we made the students more interactive and also how we played games to create an interest in them is still memorizing. After knowing about their views we were surprised and happy that they know more than us.

(SSR16-104) AROGYAMRITHAM HEALTH CAMP

  MISSION :
·         To provide free general health checkups for the students
·         Refer for treatment those students who require long term attention
·         To have an interactive session with the students

5.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
          Many people are unaware about the importance of Health and Hygiene in their life. So, proper guidance is necessary to make them aware and make the society wealthier.

7.       THE  CONQUEST :
·         Successfully made health report cards for all students of SNV UPS
·         Made teachers more cautious to notice behavioral anomalies in Students 
·         Successfully conducted Arogyamritham 2016 for SNV UPS

8.       OBSTACLES FACED :
·         The main constraint we had was time.
·          Also due to the election taking place in the school, some class teachers were busy with the vote counting.
·         To resolve this, Students of those teachers who were busy were postponed till last for checkup. Other than that no problems occurred during the camp.

1        ROAD AHEAD :
·         The Doctor along with her staff will go back one day to complete the checkup of all students.
·         A parents meeting will be held either with all parents or just with those of problematic children.
·         The recommendation of the school for School Health Program is also being considered.
·         The necessary procedures will be done through Government Homoeo Dispensary, Muthukulam.
·          If this becomes successful, it will be much beneficial to the school.

At first it was quite hard organizing the students. They were so energetic and playful. But this never bothered us. The more playful they were getting it became more fun for us too. Also the teachers were quite helpful in managing them. Interacting with them and being one among them was a nourishing moment.
